Ryman Isthmian League

Division One North
Tuesday 6th November 2007

Edgware returned to the top of the Ryman League Division One North table on Tuesday following their hard-fought draw against Dartford.

A bumper crowd of almost 800 witnessed a game in which defences dominated, stifling any real creative play by their opponents, and neither keeper had to make a significant save during the entire contest.

Particularly outstanding in defence for Edgware was Junior Lewis. That Edgware have conceded just four goals in 12 league games so this season  owes much to his fine form, and that of his centre back partner, skipper Rory Smith.

Although chances were few, Edgware had the edge and it was Fabio Valenti who came closest to a goal midway through the second half when he fired an effort narrowly over the crossbar.

The point will have pleased the Wares more than Dartford, as they leapfrogged back over AFC Sudbury, who claimed top spot on Saturday when Edgware were without a game.

This Saturday the Wares face another stern test when fifth in the table Redbridge are the visitors to the White Lion Ground.

On Tuesday Edgware visit neighbours Kingsbury London Tigers for a Middlesex Senior Cup tie.

Edgware: Bonfield, Davidson (Morton), Hart, Smith, Lewis, Fernee, Valenti, Moore, Ngoyi (S Blackburne), Cain, Maharjan (Marks). Other subs: Ingham, R Blackburne.
