Enfield Town (0)0 – Edgware Town (1)1
Ryman Isthmian League

Division One North
Tuesday 25th September 2007

Greg Ngoyi’s goal just 9 minutes in proved decisive as Edgware came away from promotion favourites Enfield Town with all three points this evening.

Edgware’s defence performed admirably all night, holding their line and making match winning tackles, whilst at the other end the ‘Ware’s were always dangerous on the break.

Gavin Hart’s pass to Ngoyi set up the burly striker to score from close range, and the ‘Wares’ would hold the early lead for the remainder of the match.

Stuart Blackburne and Ngoyi both came close to adding to the lead, as the home side had no answer to the pace of Edgware’s attack, as well as Densal Davidson and Hart’s runs down the flanks.

Rob Blackburne in the visitor’s goal pulled off a marvellous stop diving low to his left in the second period, to deny Enfield Town an equaliser.

Edgware nearly doubled their lead when Blackburne shot over from close range and then he went one on one with the keeper.

Despite a number of added minutes being played, the ‘Wares’ stood firm, and made sure that they took all 3pts back across Middlesex, in a result that should make the rest of the league sit up and take notice.
