Edgware won through to the next round of this Senior Challenge Cup tonight with a comprehensive 4 – 0 win over neighbours Kingsbury London Tigers, the Wares now play Wembley or Hanwell away in the second round.

Adam Wallace was fouled in the first few minutes and a quick free kick put Greg Ngoyi through but the angle was tight and his shot hit the keepers feet only to rebound out to Denis Maharjan who missed the target from in front of goal within the first 2 minutes. Wallace was through on goal a minute later and only a first rate tackle by John Muneghina stopped the big striker from scoring.

Just before the 10 minute mark Fabio Valenti, who was on excellent form, sent in a floated corner which Paul Marks headed just over. Maharjan put a shot wide on the quarter hour and Mark’s defence splitting pass was just in front of Greg Ngoyi running in.

The Wares were dominating the game with the home goal constantly threatened and Kingsbury were limited to a couple of breaks but did not really trouble Rob Blackburne in the Wares goal. Although, he was forced to save low down when Sirak Beyene broke through Rory Smith’s defence and was 1 on 1 with the keeper just before the end of a disappointing first half with the Wares failing to capitalise on their domination of their Spartan League opposition.

A couple of minutes from the restart Edgware took the lead. Maharjan spotting Siki Kambila the home keeper off his line he lobbed the ball from a yard or so inside the oppositions half and saw the ball drop into the top corner of the goal.

10 minutes later it was 2 – 0. Fabio Valenti swung a corner into the goalmouth for Wallace to head home. Attacking down the slight slope of the ground in the second half the Wares really took the game by the throat and although full of running the home side did not have an effective answer to the constant pressure from the Ryman League leaders.

With less than 10 minutes to go substitute Paul Killick slotted the ball into goal for Edgware’s third and then a great individual run and strike by Ngoyi, on the stroke of full time, put the game to bed.
