EDGWARE TOWN 1 - HILLINGDON BOROUGH 3 |
|||
|
Edgware again showed how they can play neat passing football in difficult conditions, beating a very physical Witham Town side 2-1 this afternoon. Playing into a strong wind in the first half the Wares held firm and went 1-0 up 10 minutes into the second period, Greg Ngoyi latching on to an incisive pass forward from Vince Rispoli. Cody McDonald got one back for the home side before substitute Richard Morton scored the winner on 82 minutes. The home team finished with only 9 men after first Phil Goodwin was sent off after 35 minutes followed by Joe Smith 15 minutes before the end of the game. Match report ............ |

Great news that the FA are investing £200m into grass roots football but just how much grass will be left to play on in the London Borough of Harrow. Belmont have already lost half their pitches at William Ellis in Camrose Avenue, the Prince Edward playing field site looks like it will never get off the ground and if the White Lion goes there's precious little left. So much for the governments pledge to get kids off the street and into sport. |

Adam Wallace's 12 minute goal sealed the points for Edgware 1-0 winners against Northwood at the White Lion this afternoon. Match report.............. |

The away game jinx struck Edgware again with a disappointing game against a completely revamped Ilford side. Only the gaoalkeeper remaining from the side we beat 5-0 at the White Lion earlier in the season. The only highlight was Richard Morton’s well battled consolation goal. The very stiff wind in our faces in the first half played an important part in the Foxes early success, a wind that died to a whimper in the second period when it would have favoured the Wares. The early substitution of ‘skipper’ Rory Smith and an obviously still recovering Jason Ferneé taking his place was not the best start but we need to take it on the chin and regroup for our game against Northwood on Monday. A fine 4-2 win for the Under 18's against Kidlington tonight, Edgware
scoring 3 in the first 20 minutes without reply. John Fitzpatrick scored
in the first couple of minutes then 2 great goals from Jake Furman on 14
and 18 minutes with John Paul Young scoring in the second half.
Edgware answered
their critics in the best way possible with a convincing 3 – 1 win
against a tough Rovers side at the White Lion this afternoon.

Our
Semi-Final in the Middlesex Senior Charity Cup against Hillingdon
Borough will take place at the White Lion ground on Thursday 3rd April
KO 7.45. The Wares drop points at Brentwood Town after a 2-0 defeat away on Saturday. Match report......... |

A better performance against Arlesey Town and a 1-0 win thanks to Kevin Chakaodza's last minute strike. Match report........ 100 club was drawn on Saturday after the game - 1st prize of £100 was won by Denis Maharjan and 2nd prize of £50 was won by Steve Newing. Next draw on 5th April after the game against Averley, to be drawn by one of the girls at the Gentleman's Evening. A 5-0 drubbing by Redbridge on Saturday left Edgware to lick their wounds after the harsh reality of a dreadful display without the passion and commitment we have come to expect from the Edgware squad. I know we still have a number of influential players missing but the replacements are just not good enough, our limited budget does not give a lot of scope, but that is no excuse for what can only be described as the worst performance in Steve and Dels tenure over the last 3 seasons. On
Sunday 24th February we host a Quarter Final of the FA Sunday Cup at the
White Lion where St Andrews play Hetton Lyons CC for a place in the
final 4. The Bar opens at 10am, kick off at 2pm. A number of Edgware players
also play for St Andrews, so an exciting game in prospect with TV cameras
at the ground. Click the links and read the reports to see what I mean |

A tough game in prospect for the Wares on Saturday away against Redbridge, a real 6 pointer as they sit just below us in the league 4 points the difference but the 'Motormen' have 2 games in hand. Our game at the White Lion was a 1 - 1 draw back in November last year so all to play for tomorrow with hopefully some of our big guns back in the squad. Edgware Town under 18's played top of the league Hayes & Yeading United at the White Lion ground last night running out 2-0 winners. The young Wares held their lofty opponents in the first half and scored just before the break. However, they really dominated in the second period and never looked like conceding with the reliable Ed Stopps between the sticks. The second goal sealed the points and the scoreline could have been more with the young guns pressing till the end. Hayes are currently on 22 points from 10 games and Edgware have 14 from 7 so if they can win the 3 games in hand they will go top. They now play Kidlington away on Monday 25th Feb and are in action at the White Lion against Chesham United on Wednesday 27th Feb. Come along you will not be disappointed. |

Edgware could only manage a draw against a much changed Waltham Forest 11 on Saturday. Again the Wares failed to score from any of the chances they created, although those were few and far between. The 'Stags' had there best chance to take the points when referee Mr Field gave them a 55th minute penalty for a hand ball offence. However, keeper Rob Blackburne became the hero of the hour when he saved Gazmond Dauti's spot kick. Unless Edgware can start scoring goals and winning matches a play off spot is fast disappearing. |

With a ground grading inspection booked for Friday morning the youth team game scheduled for the White Lion on Wednesday has been switch to be played at North Greenford KO at 7.45pm Edgware wasted a golden opportunity to go second in the league on Saturday when they could only manage a goalless draw against Tilbury. Denis Maharajan returned to the team after a long absence through injury and was an impressive addition to the front line in the first half. The Wares should have been home and hosed with the chances they had in the first 45 minutes but as we have seen too often this season chances don't win matches. Match report....... |

On Saturday we entertain Waltham Forest at the White Lion and a game we need to win to keep our chances of a play off place alive.
Edgware played a much changed Wivenhoe Town team at the White Lion
today, Edgware winning 3 - 1, a brace by Greg Ngoyi on 2 and 23 minutes
the other by substitute Adam Wallace on 70 minutes. Edgware win through to the Semi Final of the Middlesex Senior Charity Cup with a 3 - 1 win against AFC Hayes at the White Lion tonight. Goals from Kevin Chakaodza, Greg Ngoyi and Adam Wallace Match report........ A hard fought match against well organised Maldon Town but the Wares gained 3 valuable points with their first win of the new year. Match report..... |

The
match against Maldon Town on Saturday will be on as long as the rain
holds off.
We played
Maldon Town, away, back in October last year, a 0-0 result, but the day
was probably more memorable for the disastrous journey the team had that
day. Suffering a blow out on the M25, it was discovered that there was no
spare wheel on the minibus. After some frantic phone calls supporters
rallied round and collected the team, ferrying them to the match, so
with very little preparation the boys made it to the game. The 'blues' are currently seventh in the league table with 43 points from 25 games, their recent form is WLWDL, being beaten at home last Saturday 2-1 by an improving Redbridge, who incidentally now go unbeaten in their last eight games. The Saturday before the Blues posted a 0-0 draw away at Averely and started the New Year beating Potters Bar 2-1 at home on 5th January. Hopefully better preparation and a better result for the Wares today. |

Edgware play AFC Hayes in the quarter final of the Charity Cup at the White Lion on Tuesday 5th February KO 7.45pm
Edgware
have won the Middlesex Charity Cup just once, in 1996 - 97, in a
pulsating Final Against Wembley played at Vale Farm on Friday 16th May.
The only goal of the game was scored by midfielder, John Coleman, two
minutes into extra time. The game was played in torrential rain with
thunder and lightening adding to the suspense and local reporter John
Comfort was pressed into service, running the line, when one of the
officials failed to show. Edgware whimper out of the Senior Cup losing 3 - 1 to Northwood who progress to a semi final draw with either Staines Town or Hendon John Comforts Match report..... The rain held off and Edgware gained a point away at Canvey Island with a 1-1 draw. Match report..... |

My trusty pine cone forecasts more rain before the weekend. A call to Canvey Island before setting of for the match methinks.
Edgware lost 1 - 0 against a strong Enfield Town side. Another draw - this time against promotion hopefuls WARE. A tough entertaining game and although both teams had chances but neither team could finish the job. Edgware's 'man of the match' was Jason Ferneé whose performance can only be described as awesome. Match report............ Edgware could only manage a draw against Bury Town with neither side being able to hit the net. With AFC Sudbury and Dartford both winning the Wares go back third in the league. Match report...... Edgware Town welcome in 2008 as league leaders. Beating Waltham Abbey 2-0 on a decidedly chilly afternoon. Goals from Kevin Chakoadza on 33 minutes and Adam Wallace on 77 minutes. Match report.....
Christmas cheer was in short supply as the boxing day derby ended
scoreless at Northwood Park this afternoon. A rather pedestrian performance from Edgware but posting another 3 points by beating Wingate & Finchley 1-0, Chris Ingham' s single effort, lofted into the top corner of the home goal from 35 yards out. Wingate finished the game with only 9 men after Ahmadou Seyes was sent off in the first half and home Captain Craig Ellis early in the second. Match Report......... Edgware won
through to a Quarter Final tie with Northwood in the Middlesex Senior Cup
by beating Wembley 4 - 2 on penalties after the Lions had equalised in
the ninth minute of time added on by referee Aiden Farrelly. Man
of the Match was Jason Ferneé for his tireless defensive play, saving
the Wares blushes on numerous occasions. |
|||
|
Northwood are current holders of the Cup beating Hayes and Yeading United in last years final, a feat they repeated on Monday night to book their place in the Quarter Final this year. Edgware return to winning ways with Kevin Chakaodza scoring both goals in the 2 - 0 win against Witham Town this afternoon. Congratulations to Colin Hiskey for keeping the White Lion pitch playable and referee Phil Sharp for getting the game on. John Comforts Match Report.....

Edgware beat Arlesey Town 4 - 1 tonight, an exact reversal of our league defeat by the 'Blues' on 20th November even down to us winning a penalty, put away by Stuart Blackburne in the 73rd minute after Dean Glibert pulled the lithe striker down in the box. Midfield dynamo, Johnny More, scored a brace on 14 and 36 minutes respectively, but the goal of the night was scored by Darren Bonfield, in the 6th minute, when his long goal kick eluded Luke Howard, custodian of the home goal, bouncing over his head and into the back of the net. |
|||
|
Yes you guessed it
- the Wares posted another draw against Great Wakering Rovers on
Saturday afternoon. We held the home side after new signing Kevin Chakaodza
slotted in from Gavin Harts precise cross just past the hour but an
error in defence let the home side score an equaliser 5 minutes from the
end. |
|||
|
The Wares 1 - 1 draw with Brentwood Town and subsequent one point was enough to see them go back top courtesy of tomorrow nights visitors to the White Lion, Bury Town, beating Dartford 2 - 1 away from home and AFC Sudbury not playing. Saturdays match report......... Edgware go down 4
- 1 to Arlesey Town tonight. Peter Taylor has signed Junior Lewis to play in the back line at Stevenage Borough. We would like to thank Junior for all the work he has done for Edgware both on and off the field and wish him every success in the future. He knows he will always be welcome at the White Lion. Waltham Forrest 1

Edgware are drawn away to Arlesey Town in the 4th round of the league cup. That means we play them on Tuesday 20th November and then again probably on Tuesday 4th December, both times away at their Hitchin Road Ground |

Kingsbury London Tigers |

Edgware gain a point from their 1 - 1 draw with Redbridge and with both AFC Sudbury and Dartford loosing they stay top of the division. Match report ...... |
|||
|
Edgware go back top of the league by virtue of the point they took from a goalless draw at Dartford tonight. Both defences performed well keeping any scoring opportunities to the bare minimum but the Wares really edged it on performance, shear hard work and desire. Who would have thought that at this stage of the season Edgware and Dartford would be battling for top spot in the league |
|||
|
Following Rob Blackburne winning the Golden Gloves award for September. Darren Bonfield has scooped the award for October. Both to be presented with keepers gloves and a certificate at the game against Dartford |
|||
|
Edgware won through to the Quarter final of the Middlesex Charity Cup tonight beating North Greenford United 2 - 0 at the White Lion ground. The visitors were full of running but rarely threatened Rob Blackburne in the home goal in a scoreless first half. A great headed goal by Richard Morton from an incisive Adil Salih free kick on 50 minutes opened the scoring for the Wares and Fabio Valenti set up Gavin Hart to cross into the centre for substitute Adam Wallace to score the second with a fine shot beating Harry James in the visitors goal 3 minutes before the final whistle.
|
|||
|
Edgware now play AFC Hayes, again at the White Lion, the match to be arranged but must be played before the end of January next year. Edgware took
another 3 points beating Aveley 3 - 0 to keep them at the top of the
Division One North table.
|
|||

Craig White and Fabio Valenti have rejoined the Wares, Craig re-signing after a spell at Neasden and Fabio from Hemel Hempstead, lets make them both welcome when the run out wearing the green on Tuesday night against Potters Bar Town |

After missing a penalty in the first 15 minutes Edgware went on to win 3 - 0 against Canvey Island tonight. Goals from Densil Davidson on 53 minutes and incredible leap by Greg Ngoyi 6 minutes later heading over the keeper when close in and then Greg Ngoyi again from the spot just past the hour after he had been up-ended in the box. Full Match report........ |

Edgware Town took a point from in-form Maldon Town, one of only two clubs in the division who remain undefeated so far this season. With a breakdown on the motorway the team only had 30 minutes to prepare but gave good account of themselves. Match report....... Bury Town have a replay in the FA Trophy on Tuesday night after they drew with Redbridge on Saturday so our game will now be played on Tuesday 27th November, the first available date in our busy schedule. |

Edgware Town take a share of top spot
in the league following their 1 - 0 defeat of AFC Sudbury at the White
Lion today. Ben Hayden scoring the only goal of the match from the
penalty spot 10 minutes from the start. |
|||
|
Edgware beat Staines Town 3 - 1 in the League Cup at the White Lion last night, goals from Ben Cain, Ben Hayden from the penalty spot and a fantastic diving header from Johnny Moore. Match Report...... Although Edgware exited the FA Cup 2 -0 today at the hands of Southern Conference side Eastbourne Borough the boys can be proud of their performance and but for some better finishing the result could have been very different. The Wares can take away a number of lessons from the game, when you get the chance you have to hit the target, but more importantly if they can scare a team in the Conference then the league games against the stronger clubs over the next few weeks should hold no fears. Although missing
Rob Blackburne, Paul Marks and Johnny Moore all suffering from a stomach
bug striking on Friday night, Rory Smith came on as sub and looks
stronger than ever and Richard Morton is looking fit and should get a
run out against Staines Town on Tuesday night. |
|||
|
On Wednesday 26th September Edgware U18's beat North Greenford United 4 - 1 in the FA Youth Cup to set up a 2nd Round Qualifier at the White Lion against Enfield Town who beat Wingate & Finchley 2 - 1 away also played last night. Edgware came away
from Enfield Town last night with all the points, a fine performance
from the boys and they certainly proved that they can hold their own at
the new level they are now playing.

Edgware let Tilbury off the hook on a number of occasions during the 1-1 draw on Saturday as well as allowing Stuart Roberts to score with a free header on the stroke of half time. The Wares need to put on their shooting boots and have a strike at goal from the many chances they create during the course of a game, instead of trying to pass the ball into the net. Remember it's goals that win games! |

|
After dominating most of the first half Edgware seemed to lose their way for part of the second half and the home side threatened to level the score, however, Rob Blackburne was in superb form and Densil Davidson sealed the game in time added on at the end to send the Wares home with all three points and maintain their third place in the league. Yes it's true. Edgware Town will play all their games at the White Lion next season . Lets make next season count and get behind the boys who have stayed loyal to the club. The new buzzwords are: PASSION AND PRIDE Next season entrance to the WHITE LION for our first team fixtures will be £7.00 for adults and £4.00 for concessions. We know this is a £2.-00 increase but only seems a lot as we have kept the price at the White Lion the same for 3 years. Children under 12 with a responsible adult will still be admitted free of charge. Programmes will remain at £1.00. All that said where else can you get an afternoons entertainment for £8.00 Season tickets are available for all home league games.

Steve
Newing has never ever scored against Wealdstone, but he missed a golden

Edgware won their last game of the season at
a canter beating Langford 4 - 0. The score
could have been many more with the chances
the Wares had and Rob Blackburne in the
Wares goal had an easy afternoon. New boy
Densal Davidson, who impressed throughout,
scored the first on 10 minutes, Ben Hayden
scored 7 minutes later. In the second half
Adam Wallace and Johnny Moore added to the
score line on 68 and 87 minutes
respectively. Super Sub Steve Newing came on for Wallace in the last quarter of an hour and although setting up some chances for his team his moment of glory came when he stepped up to take a Penalty after Phil Kane was brought down in the box. Unfortunately his thunderous kick was turned away by an acrobatic dive from Home keeper Dan Eely. Man of the match was Paul Marks, donning the Captains armband and leading by example, until he was subbed just past the hour, the managers obviously mind full of the two cup games to come. The Wares played some great football in the match today and the score could have been more but for some strange offside decisions. Our thank must go to the first team players who all gave up two weekends to help with the groundwork that we had to complete before the deadline. |

A goalless draw in the much hyped re-play against Harefield United at the White Lion tonight was probably a fair result.
Both teams had chances but the game was
predominantly a midfield battle. A world
Class save from Bomber Bonfield in the home
goal denied the Hares in the first few
minutes, with Johnny Moore's
spectacular shot crashing off the cross bar, the nearest the Wares came to
winning the game. |

The White Lion suffers again from the inclement weather and the game against Aston Clinton was postponed for the fourth time tonight. The league have rescheduled the quarter final of this Challenge Trophy competition to Thursday 8th March. The semi final game in this competition, between Ruislip Manor and Stony Strattford, was postponed yesterday to be played tomorrow, Wednesday 28th, but looking at the weather forecast over the rest of this week I think that the game will not be able to go ahead. |

The melting snow, leaving the White Lion

Richard Morton scored a cracker,
after 18 minutes, to send his team in at the

Kingsbury side tonight. Only moments earlier
he had the ball in the net with another
great strike but was ruled offside even
though it was Ben Cain
running back and obviously not interfering
with play that the assistant flagged as off. |

Although going a goal down to a penalty conceded in the first few minutes of the game away against St Margaretsbury Edgware struck back with a well worked corner between Gavin Hart and Richard Morton, Stuart Blackburne heading home his first goal since the beginning of the year.
